STATIC CARAVAN VAT CUT TO 5%

Hull Labour Group was delighted at the BBC announcement that a partial climbdown is likely by the Government over VAT on static caravans. The 20% bombshell had threatened thousands of jobs, but the mass all-party opposition from across Hull and East Riding, with an alliance of manufacturers and MPs and the Council, has led to this likely climbdown.

Following a Labour motion to Hull City Council strong lobbying took part on behalf of the City Council, with Labour committed to saving local jobs and services. “This is not the full cut, but is a large step in writing the wrong sneaked through in the Government¬† budget, ” said Councillor Daren Hale.

We still need greater investment in job creating in this area,” especially for young people added Cllr Steve Brady.
